An eight-week coaching programme that improves performance and well-being in your life and career. Along the way, you’ll also learn how to build dialogue, lead others, and become more authentic at work and at home.
Performance in modern working life takes on many different forms;
clarity of decision making
creative problem solving
or even keeping mistakes to a minimum.
The skills needed to improve performance, therefore, vary from task to task. However, there are certain psychological truths that underpin high performance irrespective of the task involved. These are your ability to maintain focus, have clarity over your goals, derive intrinsic motivation and having behavioural flexibility. Over the eight weeks, you'll learn how you can achieve these truths
What you will learn
You learn how your emotions and thoughts sometimes get in the way of you achieving your goals, and how to stop them hijacking you and driving your automatic reactions. You learn how to surf your emotions instead of being consumed by them and how to stop yourself from buying into unhelpful thoughts.
You'll also learn how to build dialogue. Being a good communicator means promoting dialogue that enables people and teams to solve their own problems and challenges. Through out the course, you will learn new communications skills and be able to practice them in a safe environment.
You'll also practice coaching your peers and enable each other to build psychological flexibility. Psychological flexibility is a key skill that helps you become more resilience. Resilience is an important personal attribute that can have a wide-ranging influence on your well-being and performance at work.
ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
There are many barriers to increasing your performance and so often these barriers are outside of your experience and thus outside of your control.
Therefore to a large extent, any barriers you do have are internal, they are the unpleasant thoughts and feelings that come up and try to disrupt us from our path. The question is how to deal with difficult thoughts and emotions so they don't get in the way.
You have probably tried in the past to control your unpleasant thoughts and feelings. You probably think that to perform better you should feel confident and get into the right mindset.
Unfortunately, this approach has some problems associated with it. Evidence suggests that trying to change thoughts and emotions is highly unreliable and often counterproductive. You also spend a lot of time living in the past and the future rather than living in the moment where you can take action.
A different approach is to become more skilful at focusing on our tasks even when our thoughts and emotions are disruptive.
This skill is known as psychological flexibility.
Why Is Psychological Flexibility Important For You?
In research, psychological flexibility has been shown to:

Help you shift mindsets and change behaviour to stay connected to your deeply held values.
Reduce feelings of stress and anxiety.
We build resilience through developing psychological flexibility, which is the ability to initiate and sustain values guided action and engage fully in life, through times of both ease and difficulty, through periods of both stress and calm. The higher our level of psychological flexibility, the greater our resilience.
There is only one evidence-based model that increases psychological flexibility and that is Acceptance and Commitment Training (ACT). ACT helps you accept the challenges that come with life thus helping you overcome the hurdles that get in our way when we step outside of our comfort zone.

Learn How To Influence Others Through Dialouge
During the programme you'll also learn how to use a 'listening framework' to be able to thoughtfully process what someone is saying and search for the meaning behind their words. You'll practice coaching your peers using your developing dialouge skills.
Become More Emotionally Open
A key requirement of developing psychological flexibility is to become more open to our thoughts and emotions. You learn how to recognise unhelpful thoughts and how to open up to your emotions so they don't stand in the way of your goals.
Become More Self Aware
Being aware means stopping automatic reactions and beginning to connect with what is around you. You learn simple mindfulness skills that help you connect with the present moment.
Make Conscious Choices
You'll build clarity aound your values helping you to make more conscious choices about your life direction. When faced with challenging situations you'll learn how to connect with your values and make choices that move you forward

About Gary Bridgeman
I’m Gary and I provide open, honest and effective coaching that helps you achieve your goals, have better professional relationships, overcome professional challenges and lead more purposeful and meaningful lives.
I’ve got over 25 years of experience working across industries and sectors.
I’ve fixed combat fast jets and helicopters for the British Royal Air Force and I’ve developed in-car navigation systems for Jaguar, Nissan and Saab.
I’ve represented the Intelligent Transport and Road Haulage sectors in their respective EU associations.
I’ve managed EU funded research projects with international partners spread across Europe and the Globe.
I’ve lead cross cultural and international teams and coached scientists, researchers, entrepreneurs, CEOs and interns.
I’ve written proposals and won funding under the EU and UK government funding schemes winning several million in funding for clients and partners. I’ve even won funding for my own ideas and started a technology company using UK grant funding.
