Build Self awareness and emotional intelligence
One of the most important skills in becoming more influential in your communication is developing self-awareness. Self-awareness allows for a listening that is free of assumptions and judgments that compromise healthy communication. Before we are able to listen deeply to others, we need to learn how to listen deeply to ourselves. It is this self-awareness that helps us to understand the other’s frame of reference and help you influence and persuade them to your point of view. Throughout the course you'll be expected to carry out self reflection exercises, mindfulness exercises and keep a daily journal.
Learning through guided exercises and role play
Of course you can learn how to communicate by reading books but you'll need to practice your skills in a safe environment. Each week will introduce a new communication topic and you'll complete exercises and role play while being facilitated by your trainers. You'll be set homework and be expected to practice your developing skills at home and at work. You'll be able to build on your communication skills week-by-week without becoming overwhelmed. Allowing you use spontaneous, free-flowing, naturalistic ways of responding to the moment-to-moment ebb and flow of the conversation, instead of sticking to rehearsed scripts and prepared responses
Evidence based APPROACHES
You'll learn how to use the theory of language and cognition (Relational Frame Theory) to help shape and influence other people's behaviour. You'll learn how to use metaphors to help people be more creative and develop new ways of looking at their challenges. The course will teach you skills in attending, listening, understanding, and helping your co-workers explore their concerns and problems more thoroughly. You’ll be able to help people stay focused and help them develop new perspectives on their problems and unused opportunities.
